Deskripsi
The book Comfort in Persecution: The Stories of Teaching in the Book of Daniel is compiled against the background of the conditions of freedom of religious life in Indonesia which has recently felt increasingly alarming. The destruction and prohibition of establishing places of worship is not unfamiliar to us. In some places, there are even prohibitions on performing worship, including joint prayers in houses and holiday commemorations. The tendency to impose the way of life of one religion on adherents of another religion is also getting stronger. It is indeed contending that things like this happen in a land that has a grand motto: Bhinneka Tunggal Ika. The book of Daniel can be one of our inspirations. The book tells the story of Daniel, the Judahite who was also exiled to Babylon. As a person who lives in a foreign land, Daniel lives in a society that has different beliefs from himself. This difference is not uncommon to bring trouble to Daniel, even the threat of death. Faced with it all, Daniel's faith apparently did not waver in the slightest. Being treated badly often makes people angry, and then does anything as a form of resistance. However, Daniel did not do that. Instead of retaliating against persecution with actions of a reactive nature, he prefers to remain calm and patient. Daniel behaved so because he had a reliable defender. The defender in question is none other than God. This book does not discuss the book of Daniel as a whole, but only the part of the teaching stories, namely Dan. 1 – 6 and Dan. 13 – 14. May the presence of this book truly be a comfort and a confirmation, especially for those who are going through difficult situations in carrying out their faith.
