Deskripsi
Walok, meaning love in one of the many Dani dialects, is a photographic journey into the soul of the Dani people of the Grand Baliem Valley, Irian Jaya, indonesia. Stephane Sensey magically captures the peoples of the 'land lost in time' through a series of gripping black and white portrait photographs. Each photograph is a recording of history, a snapshot of a rich culture that remains true even in today's rapidly homogenising world. Coupled with explanatory text by Edward Speirs, Walok opens our eyes and minds to lives so vastly different than our own. By focusing intimately on the truly unique Dani people, Walok helps us to accept, appreciate and love the vast differences between societies around the world.
