Essentially a festschrift is a book of glorification for someone whose dedication in science development is highly significant. This book is a festschrift for Prof. Dr. R. P. Soejono, a researcher and an educator, and a fighter who dedicated his life to the advancement of Indonesian archaeology. R. P. Soejono is the first Indonesian prehitorian and the pioneer who implants the seeds of prehistory (and Indonesian archaeology in general) to the younger vast experiences in prehistory are reflected in his scientific works that discuss various aspects of prehistory from the oldest period to the proto-historic period. This book is titled: Archaeology: Indonesian Perspective in accordance with the substance of the discussions, which depict the richness of Indonesian archaelogy. There are no less 58 articles in this book, written by his colleagus and friends, researchers, ex students, and observers of archaelogy from Indonesia and abroad. Based on its main subtances, this book is divided into two parts. The first part contains personal expressions, short notes of impressions and personal experiences from his close friends and ex students. The second part contains scientific articles in the field of archaeology and related sciences about Indonesia in the context of Southeast Asia Oceania. This second part consists of seven chapters, which include the fields of Paleogeoghrapy and Paleoenvironment, Paleoanthropology, Prehistory, Classical (Hindu-Buddhist) Archaeology, Islamic and Colonial Archaeology, Ethnograpy, and Cultural Resource Management.
