It's a great story that demonstrates hard work, loyalty, and good old fashioned ethics. Boy was that a breath of fresh air! The book was harder to put down as an adult than as a kid, but I think that's mainly because I don't have to worry about my parents coming to tell me to "Shut out the light and GO TO BED!" The story line is believable if you consider the time period it was written and represents. The characters are believable and the good guys are people you'd like to meet in person and the bad guys are people you'd like to see on cops getting tasered. Okay, maybe it's just me that wants to see them tasered, but the point is they are just as well developed as the good guys and there is no doubt in your mind why you don't like them, at all. I love this book today maybe more than I did growing up.
