This is my first time read Murakami's works and I can see his unique writing style through six short stories. Those stories have a same background situation, someone who not a direct victim of 1995 Kobe earthquake and just barely see it on newspaper or TV, but yet they dealing with totally different kind of problems and their live changed after the earthquake happen (emptiness, regret, loss). My most favorite are "Thailand", "Honey Pie", and "Landscape with Flatiron", those are simple stories but still have some deep meaning that Murakami put it into some symbolism. In other hand, I don't really like his "UFO in Kushiro", it's feel strange and incomplete to me.
